The Princess of Wales looks like sunshine personified. Stepping out for her first Royal Ascot appearance in three years, Kate Middleton said farewell to her recent streak of muted pastels in favor of an old favorite from her wardrobe in the boldest, brightest shade of yellow.

Her yellow dress, a creation from the ever-dramatic London-based brand Roksanda, featured a high neckline, short sleeves, and a cinched waist. An asymmetrical, avant garde bow detail added a modern twist on one shoulder. The full skirt fell to her ankles.

The princess paired the attention-grabbing gown with a matching wide-brimmed hat, which she wore tilted to one side. It was adorned with a hazy layer of yellow mesh. She continued the monochromatic look with pale yellow pumps and clutch with a pearl fastening. Her hair was swept back in an elegant low updo, showing off a pair of statement chandelier earrings. Finally, she complemented the pearl snap on her clutch with a delicate three-strand pearl necklace.

Prince William, who joined his wife at Ascot, coordinated with her bold dress with a bright yellow boutonnière in the lapel of his black morning suit.

This radiantly colored dress has certainly served Kate well. She previously wore it twice in 2022—once during her trip to Jamaica with William in March, when she styled it with a ponytail, white heels, and a white clutch. She dusted it off again in July, wearing it with white heels and a straw hat while presenting the trophy to the Women’s Singles winner at Wimbledon.

Kate’s outing at Ascot comes after a busy weekend for the princess. She and her family stepped out for the annual Trooping the Colour parade on June 13, where she wore a pale blue suit in a nod to late mother-in-law Princess Diana. She then made a surprise appearance at the 2026 Order Of The Garter Service at Windsor Castle on Monday, where she opted for a much more muted shade of butter yellow.

This marks Kate’s first Ascot appearance in three years. Last year, she was set to attend, but pulled out the same morning. “Those close to her point out that she is still having to find the right balance as she works towards returning to public engagements following her treatment for cancer,” People noted at the time.
