How to Use Your All-Purpose Cleaner
For Spraying
Simply spray the cleaner directly onto the floor and wipe it down with a mop or clean cloth.
For Mopping
Pour the solution into a bucket, dip your mop, wring it out, and clean your floors as you normally would.
Rinsing Your Floors
If you’re dealing with greasy or heavily soiled floors, consider rinsing with clean water afterward to eliminate any residue left behind.
Important Correction: Why No Baking Soda?
While some recipes suggest combining baking soda with vinegar, this can lead to an immediate reaction that neutralizes both ingredients, significantly reducing their cleaning power. After the fizzing stops, you’re mostly left with water and salt, which is not effective for cleaning. Instead, use the vinegar solution for cleaning and reserve baking soda for scrubbing tough stains when necessary.
Storage Tips
Store your homemade cleaner in a cool, dry place. Be sure to shake the bottle gently before each use to mix the ingredients.
