Mother’s love

His mother entered the living room trying to smile. But her eyes betrayed her. The fatigue was there. The fear was there. The pain was there. Yet, every day, she put a smile on her face. For him. Always for him.

The hope of a park

The child reached out to her.

“Yes, my love?”

“When I get better, shall we go to the park?”

Mom bit her lips to keep from crying.

— Yes, we’re going.

— And we eat ice cream?

“And we play until nightfall?”

Tears began to flow.

— Yes, my child.
